Anotation:

The course deals with renewable energy sources and building energy systems. The different types of energy-solar, wind, biomass, geothermal and hydro-are discussed in detail. The characteristics of the energies and the most appropriate methods of use are described. Attention is paid to understanding the correct way to design facilities and systems that use renewable energy sources.

Study targets:

The graduate is familiar with renewable energy sources and their use in buildings and energy systems. The graduate is familiar with the characteristics of energy sources and is able to design and assess these systems at a basic level.

Content:

1. Introductory seminar, introduction to the issues and schedule, legislation, regulations, situation, renewable sources, applicability and availability of resources
2. Solar energy - principle of use, passive systems
3. Solar energy - active systems, photothermal systems, design of solar thermal systems
4. Solar energy - active systems, photovoltaic systems, design of solar photovoltaic systems
5. Environmental energy and geothermal energy - uses, heat pumps, types, design method, balancing
6. Geothermal energy - characteristics, methods of use, cogeneration - characteristics of technology, benefits.
7. Biomass - sources, methods of obtaining biomass, biomass processing.
8. Biomass - methods of energy extraction from biomass, biomass combustion.
9. Wind energy, water energy - wind turbines, water turbines, wave energy - equipment design, characteristics, energy benefits.
