Anotation:

The main goal of this subject is acquirement of the knowledge for design of the real electronics equipments especially in area of the control systems and robotic. In comparison with analogical specialized theoretical subjects emphasis is placed on the practical application. Here the design of the schematic, choice of the suitable components, design of the printed circuit board and mechanical aspects will be explained.

Study targets:

The subject is intended especially for acquirement of the knowledge for autonomous design of the electronic equipments especially for the area of the control systems. Practically does it mean in most cases combination of the microcontrollers, peripheral circuits and inputs/outputs circuits (embedded systems). This subject will be focused in comparison with theoretical electrotechnic subjects especially on real applications with using real components. More than on internal function emphasis is placed for their real properties from view of concrete application.

Course outlines:

1. Comparison of the implementation of the logical function by logical circuits (standards or more precisely programmable) and by microcontrollers.
2. Comparison of the various types of the logical circuits, used voltage levels and their compatibility (TTL, CMOS, 5V/3.3V etc.). The possibilities of the conversion of the voltage levels.
3. Implementations of the inputs and the outputs circuits in processor systems (galvanic separation, protection of the inputs and outputs etc.).
4. Connection of the display units and keypads (LED display, LCD display, multiplex mode, display with integrated controller, matrix keypad etc.).
5. Design of the schematic and printed circuit board by using specialized computer software (method CAD). Simulation of the electronic circuits.
6. Rules of the correct design of the printed circuit board including electromagnetic compatibility and mechatronical aspects. Preparation of the technological date for the real production. Using the SMD components, the technological aspects by the production.
7. Types of the communication interfaces using in microprocessor systems (RS485, RS232, I2C, SPI, CAN, Ethernet etc.).
8. Practical implementation of the communication interfaces (bus drivers, common drivers etc, and their connection to the microcontroller).
9. Modern power switch components using in control systems and their practical implementation (bipolar transistors, MOSFET, IGBT, triac and thyristor, relay, SSR etc.).
10. Peripheral circuits using in microprocessor systems (memories, A/D and D/A converters, components for communications interface, watchdogs, decoders etc.)
11. Using of the power supply units (classical power supply units, power supply switched units, DC-DC converters).
12. PWM modulation and its practical implementations.
13. Using of the operation amplifiers in microprocessor systems. Active filters.
14. The integrated sensors of the physical values and their connection to the microcontrollers.

Exercises outline:

1. Introduction, laboratory safety rules, dividing to the groups, assignment of the individual project, example of the typical exercise.
2. Consultation of the individual projects (modification of the schematics, determination of the values of the components).
3. Completion of the design of the individual project, complement of all basic blocks.
4. Complement and verification of the functionality of the all basic blocks.
5. Connection of all the basic blocks to the microprocessor unit and activation whole task as a complex.
6. Check-out and test of the function the whole task and carrying out of required measurements.
7. Check-out and test of the function the whole task and carrying out of required measurements.
8. Consultation and autonomous working on the design of the own construction of assigned individual project (schematic, printed circuit board, mechanical form, completed technical documentation).
9. Consultation and autonomous working on the design of the own construction of assigned individual project (schematic, printed circuit board, mechanical form, completed technical documentation).
10. Consultation and autonomous working on the design of the own construction of assigned individual project (schematic, printed circuit board, mechanical form, completed technical documentation). Consignment of the report (minimally schematic, coarse circuit layout on the printed circuit board, choosing of the suitable box).
11. Consultation and autonomous working on the design of the own construction of assigned individual project (schematic, printed circuit board, mechanical form, completed technical documentation).
12. Consultation and autonomous working on the design of the own construction of assigned individual project (schematic, printed circuit board, mechanical form, completed technical documentation).
13. Presentation and defence of the designed construction, assessment.
14. Presentation and defence of the designed construction, assessment.
