Anotation:

The aim of the subject is acquiring basic knowledge of security and reliability of power electrical systems based on the deterministic and mainly probabilistic analysis. After the introductory summarisation and extension of the mathematical tools for probabilistic and statistic calculations, the methodology of evaluation of the reliability of the systems is mainly discussed starting from the reliability of its particular elements in various operation regimes. Attention is also paid to problems of maintenance and mathematical simulation of the destructive tests.

Study targets:

Requirements to obtain the assessment are exercises attendance and a term thesis elaborating. Successful exam passing is determined in the Study and Examination Code of CTU in Prague.

Course outlines:

1 Discrete distributions in power engineering, typical applications. 2 Continuous distributions in power engineering, typical applications. 3 Discrete and continuous stochastic processes in power engineering I - fundamentals. 4 Discrete and continuous stochastic processes in power engineering I - typical applications. 5 Decision and risk analysis, decision criteria. 6 The concept of reliability of a power system, reliability coefficients and their determination. 7 Methods of evaluation of the system reliability, influence of the uncertainty of the reliability coefficients. 8 Design of transmission systems with respect to their reliability. 9 Preventive maintenance of particular elements of the power systems. 10 Deterministic and stochastic analysis of the load flow. 11 Deterministic and stochastic analysis of transients. 12 Probabilistic analysis of selected faults. 13 Probabilistic analysis of the system stability. 14 Monte Carlo Method in power engineering.
