Anotation:

The students get acquainted with optical materials such as semiconductors, optical glass, crystals, and polymers. The students get acquainted also with technologies for the fabrication of optical and optoelectronic devices and structures. It will be present technologies for deposition of the micro and nano layers deposition. Students will be introduced to new modern technologies and it will be shown principles of integrated optoelectronic devices and structures. It will be also shown the design of the photonic structures and diagnostic methods for the measurement of the optical and optoelectronic properties.

Study targets:

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with new technologies for photonic and optical components. Students will be acquainted with new materials for the realization of the photonic structures. Attention will also be paid to diagnostic methods for characterization and measurement of properties of photonic structures. Students will learn the design of structures using specialized design tools.

Content:

Lectures are focused on deepening theoretical and practical knowledge of semiconductor materials, optical glasses, and crystals. Attention is also paid to new polymeric materials for photonic applications. Lectures are focused on new technologies for the realization of optical, photonic and electro-optical components and structures. The content of seminar exercises is directed to the design of photonic structures using specialized design tools. Students will also learn about deposition and diagnostic methods. The exercises include technologies and measuring devices that were acquired within the framework of the grant OPVVV (Laser lithography, plasma etching technology, optical bench with InGaAs camera, optical spectral analyzer YOKOGAWA, m-line spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy). The course will conclude with the elaboration of a semestral project, which will be related to the topic of the doctoral thesis and will be a condition for granting the credit.
