Anotation:

The goal of the course is to introduce advanced methods for user interface and interaction design in non-standard environments, such as virtual and augmented reality. Students will gain theoretical background related to human interaction in such environments. During the course students will get familiar with a set of techniques for design and testing of interactive systems in non-standard environments, especially in virtual and augmented reality with collaborative aspects.

Course outlines:

1. Introduction into the problem area of user interface design in non-standard environments (virtual and augmented
reality).
2. Psychological aspects of user interface design in non-standard environments: visual perception, physical interaction.
3. Psychological aspects of user interface design in non-standard environments: working memory, spatial orientation.
4. Principals of technologies used for interaction in non-standard environments,
5. Gesture interaction: ergonomics, speed and fatigue.
6. Gesture interaction: recognition and processing.
7. Multimodal interaction in non-standard environments.
8. Collaborative interaction in non-standard environments.
9. Human-robot interaction in augmented reality.
10. Low fidelity prototyping in non-standard environments.
11. High fidelity prototyping in non-standard environments.
12. User testing methods of collaborative systems in augmented reality without users.
13. User testing methods of collaborative systems in augmented reality with users.
14. Beyond current state-of-art of design and testing of user interface and interaction.
