Recognition of subjects from previous studies

Public Notice of the FEE Vice-Dean for Education no. 12/2015 (amendment to notice no. 13/2013)
Ref. No.: 2130/13922/2015/Ši

It is not possible to recognize exams and credits older than five years in any case (see CTU Study and Examination Regulations, Art. 13, para. 10).

  1. Student unsuccessfully completed previous studies:

    • the student re-registers for the same program:

      1. The student fills out an application for the recognition of subjects evaluated with a grade of A – C on a scale of A – F (or mark of 1 – 2 on a scale of 1 – 4) and finishing with credit, and forwards it to their study officer;

        • these subjects are recognized (courses competed with a grade of D or E on a scale or A – F grades, or a 3 on a scale of 1 – 4 are not recognized, thus it is pointless to ask for their recognition).

      2. No need for any department statement!

    • in other cases

      1. The student fills out an application for the recognition of subjects evaluated with a grade of A – C on a scale of A – F (or mark of 1 – 2 on a scale of 1 – 4) and finishing with credit, and forwards it to their study officer;

        • Courses competed with a grade of D or E on a scale or A – F grades, or a 3 on a scale of 1 – 4 are not recognized, thus it is pointless to ask for their recognition.

      2. In the event that a student is applying for the recognition of completed subject for a subject with a different code, they are to request the opinion of the head of the relevant FEE department in charge of the individual subject; among subjects with the same code it is not necessary to request the opinion of the head of the department.

      3. The student can then submit a completed application to their study officer, the final decision is taken by the vice-dean.

  2. The student transfers from one program to another program within the framework of FEE, or transfers to FEE from another department

    1. The student fills out an application for recognition of subjects.

    2. All required subjects with the same code as subjects serving the same role in the new program are recognized, there is no need to put them on the application.

    3. Within the application the student should only indicate subjects with a different code or from other departments, which they are requesting be recognized as serving the same role as the required subjects of the new program, and brings this request to the heads of the FEE departments in charge of the individual subjects.

      • Other subjects completed in the previous program will automatically be recognized as elective subjects in the new program, and it is not necessary to apply their recognition.

    4. The Head of the Department in charge of these subjects will recommend (or not recommend) the recognition of subjects, or set the conditions for recognition.

    5. The student can then submit a completed application to their study officer, the final decision is taken by the vice-dean.

  3. The student has successfully completed one study program

    1. The student fills out an application for the recognition of subjects, and with this application visits the heads of the FEE departments which are in charge of the individual subjects.

    2. The Head of the Department in charge of these subjects will recommend (or not recommend) the recognition of subjects, or set the conditions for recognition.

    3. The total number of recognized credits from previous studies is always assessed individually and may not exceed 40% of the credits required for successful completion of the study program at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

    4. In this way the student can submit a completed application to their study officer, the final decision is taken by the vice-dean.

  4. Recognition of courses completed in lifelong learning

    1. The student fills out an application for the recognition of subjects evaluated with a grade of A – C on a scale of A – F (or mark of 1 – 2 on a scale of 1 – 4) and finishing with credit, and forwards it to their study officer;

      • these subjects are recognized (courses competed with a grade of D or E on a scale or A – F grades, or a 3 on a scale of 1 – 4 are not recognized, thus it is pointless to ask for their recognition).

    2. The final decision on recognition is taken by the vice-dean, and up to 60% of credits are needed to complete the current lifelong learning study.

    3. No need for any department statement!
