Antonin Novak from the Department of Control Engineering has been awarded the UPE Scholarship

Antonin Novak, the Open Informatics programme graduate has been awarded the UPE Scholarship. Only thirty students from around the world annually receive this prestigious award.

Antonin Novak’s long-term research focuses on combinatorial optimization, namely mixed-critical scheduling within the Industrial Informatics research group based at the Department of Control Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

The mixed-critical scheduling research studies the problem of planning and fulfilling the required tasks in a way allowing to cope up with all possible limitations while maximizing the effectiveness. The outputs of this kind of research are employable e.g. in automotive industry for allocating control units messages or controlling communication bus.

Among other activities, Antonin Novak also directs the UPE Czech Alpha Chapter which was founded at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in 2013.

Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE) is highly recognisable international society in the Computing and Information Disciplines. It has received endorsements from the two largest computer organizations in the world, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the IEEE Computer Society (IEEE-CS) and is a member of the Association of College of Honour Societies (ACHS).
