Anotation:

Applications of sensors in buildings

Study targets:

Basic sensors and bus systems used in buildings, their principles and methods of application

Content:

Basic sensors and bus systems used in buildings, their principles and methods of application

Course outlines:

1. Application of sensors in buildings: motivational examples. Physical principles of sensors. MEMS. Sensor parameters. Measuring chain.
2. Position sensors (contact, optical, magnetic, capacitive and ultrasonic). Sensors and transducers for measuring vibration and speed.
3. Sensors for measuring mechanical stress, forces and torque
4. Pressure, flow and level sensors Temperature sensors, non-contact temperature measurement (pyrometry, thermography). Sensors for measuring ionizing radiation.
5. Chemical sensors and biosensors, humidity measurement. Methods of monitoring the building environment.
6. Metal detectors, capacitive, ultrasonic, microwave and other sensors for security technology.
7. Application of sensors in VAC. Fire detectors, security systems.
8. Monitoring and diagnostic systems in buildings. Measurement of energy and media consumption.
9. BAS - building automation systems, process automation (HVAC, fire protection, intrusion detection, etc.), automation tools: PLC, control systems and controllers, centralized and distributed systems, HMI and SCADA tools, OPC
10. Intelligent sensors and sensor networks ISO / OSI model, the simplest network resources, UART, RS232, RS422 and RS485. Comparison of LAN (Ethernet) and fieldbus networks
11. Network standards and building management ASHRAE BACnet, LonWorks, Modbus, CEBus, C-Bus, oBIX, DyNet, EIB, KNX, Universal powerline bus UPB, X10, INSTEON. ZigBee, Z-Wave wireless networks, WLAN wireless networks - signal conditions in buildings
12. Analog and digital lighting control standards: 0-10V / 1-10V, D54, AMX192, DMX512. DALI, DSI, CAN. Remote reading of consumption meters: M-bus, bluetooth, structured cabling, UPS, data connection type "IP over power line"
13. TV cabling and convergence of services, telecommunication services - overview: telephony, ISDN, VoIP, ASDL, future trends HomePNA digital and wireless connection of security cameras CCTV GSM modems and pagers for remote control and monitoring
14. Reserve - solved examples, repetition.
