Anotation:

The subject introduces electrification system physical and economical characteristics and models. It deals with modes optimization, active and reactive power control in isolated and interconnected systems, extraordinary states solving and reliability evaluation. It describes also the current situation of the energy market liberalization and sources operation in it.

Course outlines:

1. Static and economic characteristic of power sources. Static characteristic of load and interconnected systems.
2. Load prediction and load diagrams.
3. Dispatching centre and hierarchical control, smart network.
4. Unit commitment.
5. Computing of basic power flow, static equivalents.
6. Computing of optimal power flow.
7. Economic dispatch.
8. Dynamic and control of P-f, power system transfer functions. Dynamic of interconnected systems.
9. Using FACTS in power systems.
10. Dynamic and control of Q-U, power system stabilizers (PSS).
11. Higher level function of control (state and parameter estimation, using of read phasor strobe).
12. Extraordinary states of power system and their solving. System automatics and protection.
13. Rating of operational reliability.
14. Dispatch and ancillary services, energy market liberalisation.

Exercises outline:

1. Using of static characteristic examples.
2. Load prediction algorithm development and example.
3. Visit to dispatch centre.
4. Unit commitment algorithm development and example.
5. Basic power flow algorithm development and example.
6. Optimal power flow algorithm development and example.
7. Economic dispatch algorithm development and example.
8. P-f control of interconnected systems example.
9. Using of FACTS examples.
10. Building of control Q-U dynamic model.
11. State estimation algorithm development and example.
12. Extraordinary states of power system example.
13. Rating of operational reliability examples. Monte Carlo algorithm application.
14. Design of ancillary service examples.
