Anotation:

Lecture summarize applications in physical acoustics, room and building acoustics, environmental acoustics, noise and vibration control, physiological acoustics, diagnostics, and ultrasound.

Course outlines:

1. Basic characteristics of a sound field.
2. Sound pressure, measurement, sound level meter and its properties.
3. Sound intensity, sound power, measuring methods.
4. Non-stationary and impulse sound fields, measurement and evaluation.
5. Room and building acoustics, measurement.
6. Materials for acoustics.
7. Noise control, basic principles.
8. Vibration measurement and control.
9. Standards in acoustics.
10. Interaction of sound waves with structures, quantum effects of ultrasound.
11. Measurement and visualization methods using ultrasound.
12. Signal processing by surface waves.
13. Ultrasound in medicine.
14. Ultrasound in technical diagnostics.

Exercises outline:

1. Introductions, decibels.
2. Measurement of sound pressure, sound level meter.
3. Measurement of sound power.
4. Measurement of frequency and radiation characteristics sources of sound.
5. Reverberation measurement.
6. Measurement of acoustical properties of materials.
7. Measurement of noise.
8. Vibration measurement and analysis.
9. Calibration of sound level meters.
10. Measurement of ultrasound generation on small slots, transducer, directivity pattern measurement.
11. Ultrasound impulse methods for measurements and diagnostics.
12. Power ultrasonics, cavitation.
13. Visualization of ultrasound in liquids.
14. Measurement of ultrasound transducer characteristics.
