EduARd: Authoring educational applications with AR + GPS

An app for teachers to create virtual nature trails in nature or in the city.

Why did I get into product development?

The team at FEL CTU with know-how in application development responded to the need to support the creation of teaching aids for the development of outdoor activities, especially for primary school pupils. They created a teaching aid "virtual nature trail" that will use tablets with a GPS module, will be easy to use by teachers and the finished nature trails will be shared between teachers and schools across the Czech Republic.

What problems does it solve for its customers?

We named the app for primary school teachers EduARd.  EduARd will help bring humanities and science teaching to life using geolocation (GPS) and augmented reality. In the app, teachers can create a virtual nature or city trail for their students. Pupils use tablets or mobile phones to walk the trail in real life, completing various tasks and answering questions on the app. Teachers can share these trails with their colleagues and expand them further.

The same system can be used to create tailor-made applications for companies, associations, municipalities, thanks to which the user can create a mobile application for up to a tenth of the current standard price on the market. Alternatively, it is possible to have a turnkey application created using EduARD.

The main advantages of EduARD:

  • A tool for easy creation of educational activities with the possibility of outdoor learning using GPS and augmented reality,
  • the possibility to share the created/modified materials between institutions (teachers).

Product development phase

EduARd is ready for use.

Method of commercialization

EduARd and apply directly to FEL CTU. However, we are also looking for a licensing partner to help us distribute the application to users. The development, maintenance and operation of the server part is provided directly by FEL CTU.
