MyoGraf Rehabilitation Tool

Portable electromyograph for non-contact measurement of muscle activity in patients. MyoGraf is a rehabilitation aid for identifying micro-movements or muscle movements.

Why did I get into product development?

The motivation for developing the product was an initial technical idea arising from another project and its subsequent application to help address staffing shortages of skilled personnel in the rehabilitation process. One rehabilitation worker will be able to take care of several patients at the same time, which will increase the efficiency of rehabilitation where the ratio is usually 1:1 (patient : rehabilitation worker).

MyoGraf is an opportunity to improve the quality of care, which is often reduced by low patient motivation to exercise, delayed start of the rehabilitation process and the need to present the results of quality care.

What problems does it solve for its customers?

MyoGraf is a rehabilitation tool for identifying micro-movements or muscle movements. By placing the required body part, for example the hand, on the mat, MyoGraf can be brought close to the hand in a resting position and rehabilitated. Using a mobile app on Android OS, it is possible to monitor whether micro-movements or movements are occurring and with what intensity.

Increasing patient motivation to exercise also has the potential to improve the quality of care. Patients will receive immediate feedback on their progress in rehabilitation and allow it to continue in outpatient care.

A record can be kept of each exercise session. This allows patients to exercise outside the rehabilitation facility and the rehabilitation worker can work remotely with the record. The exercise record can also be used as a presentation of the quality of care provided by the rehabilitation facility.

Product development phase

MyoGraf is prepared in the functional prototype phase by a team of researchers from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague.

Method of commercialization

We are ready to offer the sale of the license to a business partner in the field of production or distribution and service of medical devices and rehabilitation aids.

It is also possible to lease the system with training support in piece quantities.

Technical specifications

The MyoGraf radar is either placed in close proximity to the muscle area, similar to a watch or fitness bracelet, or it is placed above the monitoring site (e.g. on a stand). Micro-movements or muscle movements are measured using radar technology using the Doppler effect. The measured signal is processed, calibrated and the result is displayed graphically for the purpose of monitoring muscle activity, e.g. in the user's mobile application.
