About group

The Center of Artificial Intelligence (AIC) at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEL), Czech Technical University was founded in 2001 by prof. Michal Pěchouček with several colleagues and Ph.D.. students. Since then, the center has become a respected scientific workplace with an emphasis on applicability.

A team consists of more than 70 scientists and students from all over the world, working on nearly 30 exciting projects financed by domestic and international grant agencies, the EU, the US, and industrial partners (Google, SKODA AUTO, Honeywell, Siemens, Continental's, Bell, etc.).

With a few partner firms, the center has established a joint research lab (the largest is Avast AI & Cybersecurity Lab focused on cyber security). The aim of AIC is to solve problems of the real world through cutting-edge artificial intelligence research and development of innovative technologies. It focuses mainly on moonshots, or the important challenges that we will face in the next 10 to 20 years, and develops the necessary scientific tools and knowledge for their successful solution.

Our Current Research

AIC research mainly focuses on the following areas and application domains of artificial intelligence:

  • Computational robotics
  • Cyber security
  • The theory of games
  • Automatic planning
  • Intelligent transportation
  • Optimization
  • Machine learning

Purpose

Our algorithms are applied in a wide range of areas, including in the simulation of the suitability of production technology before purchase, recognition, protection and planning of joint actions through the cooperation of ground robots and drones, simulation and planning transport and transport tasks, ensuring the safety and intelligibility of AI systems, optimization, real-life tasks, the solution of security on the internet, assistance to journalists at work and much more. We create joint research laboratories with industry partners to help increase competitive advantage.
